Ford Adds Vehicles to Zipcar's University Program

For most college students, it's just not practical to have a car on campus. At a lot of colleges, freshmen aren't even allowed to have vehicles. But college students still need transportation, and with age and insurance restrictions on rental vehicles, this can get pretty tricky. And expensive. But, with Ford's new commitment to Zipcar, American college students will have an easier time getting access to fuel-efficient, wallet-friendly vehicles if they need them.

The automakers recent commitment to Zipcar means they now represent the largest automotive resources for Zipcar's University Program (in conjunction with over 250 American colleges). Over 650 Ford models will join Zipcars fleet this year, with another 1,000 in 2012. Cars like the Ford Focus and the Ford Escape will sport the Zipcar logo, and help college students get where they need to go.

A Zipcar membership covers the costs incurred in parking, gas, insurance, maintenance and roadside assistance fees. With Ford's support, for the first 100,000 new college students who sign up, Zipcar will offer $10 off the annual fee and $1 off the hourly rate for the first million hours of use on any Ford vehicles in the fleet.
